Project overview

Futuro Absoluto is a contract management web application. Its core functionality covers contract creation, management, tracking and reporting, designed to make complex contractual processes accessible to users with varying levels of technical familiarity.

My role

I worked in a small team, owning both the interface design and its implementation in React. The stack combined React and Material UI on the frontend with a Node.js backend.

The challenge

Contract processes involve many steps, states and details. The main challenge was exposing that complexity through an interface that stayed simple to navigate, while still meeting all of the client's functional requirements.

What I worked on

• Designed the interface: layout, typography and colour scheme aligned with what the client's users expected
• Implemented the frontend in React, translating the designs into functional, maintainable components
• Built the flows for creating, managing, tracking and reporting on contracts
• Customised Material UI components to fit the product's visual identity

Technical decisions

• Material UI as a foundation, customised. Using MUI gave the team a solid, accessible component base, while customising it allowed the product to keep its own identity instead of looking like a default template.
• Component-based architecture. Complex functionality was split into focused React components with clear state management, which kept the contract flows understandable and maintainable.

Outcome

The application received positive feedback from the client and its users, who highlighted how much easier it became to navigate contract processes. The project reinforced how closely interface design and clean, maintainable code depend on each other.
